Prevention is vital to take care of our health when traveling. Peru is situated in the tropical regions of South America, so there are a number of related illnesses and in particular the ones transmitted by mosquitos such as malaria, yellow fever and dengue.
Even when the risk of contracting any type of illness is minimal, if you plan to go to the amazonian areas, we recommend you take into account all the preventions and get vaccinated against yellow fever.
Also, we recommend that any medicines brought into the country do so with their original packaging. For prescriptions you should bring a letter signed by a doctor in which he describes your condition, a diagnosis and the generic names of the medicines you take. When should I confirm my plane ticket?
International flights should be confirm 3 days in advance and you should do the same for your return flight. For domestic flights is recommened to check 24 hour in advance since some can be modified or reprogrammed.
How many hours in advance should I get to the airport?
You should be at the airport 3 hours ahead of your international flights and 1 1/2 hours in advance for your domestic ones since you may have to go through security checks, customs and check ins.
How much weight can I carry on my luggage?
Some companies have a limited amount of weight and number of pieces of luggage you may bring with you. Standard weight per person is 25 kg. plus a small carry on board bag or suitcase. For domestic flights the normal limit is 20 kg.
Which taxes should I expect to pay at the airport?
It is usually included with your plane ticket. At the time of purchase make sure that taxes are included. In case you are required to pay any taxes you need to carry on youself local currency since most customs agencies don’t accept credit cards.
