The masters known as HAMPI CAMAYOQ were the ones in charge of researching and developing the medicinal concepts and ways of the Andean World.
From the time of the Inkas Andean medicine was developed without stop. The different techniques were enhanced and they reached the point where most of the known and unknown illnesses of mankind were curable. The healers and teachers learned the secrets of natural and super natural medicine while performing their duties. They understood and comprehended the way the MANQOS WASINCHIS work, meaning our sacred bodies or internal temples which reside in the physical body and are made out of the energy body, spirit, physical and the light body. Understanding this reality about mankind it opens up the possibility to cure and heal the afflictions which plague people.
The central Andean zones in South America are amongst the richest in biodiversity, flora and fauna, and also houses vestiges of important civilizations from antiquity. In the Andean world there were very advanced cultures that from many centuries ago until the present intermingled to contribute and enrich to the knowledge of the Andean medicine of the Healer-teachers. Later they became one of the most important civilizations where the HAMPI KAMAYOQ maximized the use of elements nature had to offer to releave humans from their maladies.
These illnesses are treated through the different techniques and processes of healing while using all the available elements natures has and the help from the spirits.
Today these practices and knowledge are still being used by Ayllu K’anchaq Qoyllur; hence it is also an opportunity to continue to learn and treat the different ailments that humans have and a chance to teach the ancestral practices. To this end, we can count on some of our brothers who are medicine teachers of our tradition. At the beginning you may not understand Andean medicine and how healers use it. It could seem that they do weird things to rid people from their sicknesses, but these strange methods or little understood cures work if you really trust and have faith on what the Andean healer is doing. As a conduit for healing the teachers use the elements of the cosmos at large, and everything Mother Nature provides, including calling on the spirits to be able to exchange health and energy to seek and restore balance for their patients once again.
The Sapan Hampikuy is a practice that comes from our ancestors and it means all of the following: “heal yourself”, “you have the cure”, “the cure is within you”, “go away from pain and sickness”, “do not accept suffering”, “seek balance of your Manqos Wasi’s”, “free yourself and free yourself from yourself”, “conquer the hucha (bad energy), and don’t let Hucha conquer you”. In the case of Sapan Hampikuy, the healers and teachers help and guide the cure of each person and to be successful there needs to be a sincere trust. When someone does not find their own cure even while being guided by the healers, then the ways of Andean medicine mays be used as well as the proper practices to heal by the teachers.
These words “SAPAYKI HAMPIKUY” have the power to heal just by uttering them, but they should be said with strength and vigor and one must be open to the healing, willing to heal, willing to accept the cure into their own bodies, willing to understand that the cure lays within their own hearts and minds, and willing to accept all the sacred elements of the cosmos and the spirits that intervene in the process.
When you do this, the healing process automatically starts in the body. The applications and techniques of medicines are only a manifestation of our will to be healed, and their use is only complementary to induce the cure.
There are certain teachings known to healers that can cause our own cures, and for this we must choose the right place, the right time and the necessary means to achieve it.
Some of our more experienced brothers at AKQ are always willing to help in the healings of others. It is of outmost importance to follow the instructions given to the letter. Also, in this manner we will be contributing so that the healing may take place in our bodies and if we give it our best and pay attention the effects are more direct and quicker to spot. Then, we may notice the changes in our Manqos Wasi or parts of it.

Finally, teachers may recommend or provide instructions to each person or student to achieve their own healing.
On other occasions teachers and healers may do a healing job and the practice along with the interested parties, while in other circumstances the may perform healing ceremonies. They may use natural medicines as well. (See Ceremonies and Healing)
